[Age 335] Pandemic Changes, New Forum, Nobility Change

Dear commanders,

Pandemic Changes, compared to last age:

1) The age starts like a normal age. 10 countries, random joining. Pandemic will kick in on day 4. It will be able to kick capitals from the get go. You really want to keep them small. Whether they respawn or not will be visible in the original pandemic-topic on the forum, where I will update the abilities of the different spreads.

2) Sfs will be counted x10 (yes, times ten) towards pandemic ranking. Last age pvp points completely dominated it. And that is fine with me, but people not pvping and sfing instead like no tomorrow, should be rewarded aswell. This measure (sfsx10) is balanced if we look at last age's ranking. However, take this information as you want it, and adjust your playstyle accordingly, if you desire to do such.

3) Pandemic Ranking will reset upon suicide. We had commanders suiciding in order to keep on pvping on the AI-commanders. This is not as we intended it, and hence this rule. Suicide = Stats Reset, also the pandemic stats from now on.

4) The reward of the free nobility days got increased from 1 day, to 2 free days. This is a measure to compensate people who just got a couple of hours (or minutes..) of nobility, based on the time when the sf happened. So we give everybody a full day atleast, and the remainder of the current day of the reward, you can consider bonus.

5) Red Firepit Socks unit change:
Old: 80 hp, 46 str, 90 auth
New: 70 hp, 23 str, 45 auth
So you can figure out what that means for your odds against them :)


New Forum: All you need to know


6) The old forum was a mess. It had missing functions, it was hard to moderate and it was outdated to state the least. We decided to install a new forum and unfortunately it was not possible to migrate all the old posts into the new forum. But lets be fair, the only thing I regret losing is your ideas/suggestions/bugreports and other things you would want us to look at. So please feel free to repost certain suggestions you still want to get done.

7) Player Guides will be removed from your lefthand menu, instead we will have this feature on the forums. However, its empty. And we really invite you to write a usefull playerguide for new players and for existing players that could step up their game. Check my forumpost about the playerguides. For a good playerguide we will award 14 days of free nobility! This will run through december and january. After that guide-submits will be still more than welcome, but then we won't give free nobility for it ;)


Nobility Change


8) Nobility we currently store with an expiration date. And at the end of day, nobility will be removed from your account, if you chose not to renew it. This will change into Ticks remaining. And this is actually quite handy for you as a player. Because basicly, from now on, you will not lose nobility in agebreaks or serverdowntimes, since ticks won't run in those periods. We are currently testing this feature, so if anything out of the ordinary happens to your nobility, contact Nuvelle or me immediatly so we can look into it. Also if you are buying nobility, you will no longer buy an amount of days, but an amount of ticks instead. Which makes this paying option a lot more fair, and easier for us in the proces.

Your profile will let you know approximaetly how many days you have left. When you have less than 1 day left it will show you the number of ticks you have left.
Please note this is an approximate amount, as its rounding the number of ticks into days. If a tick doesnt run (downtime, age break, bug etc) then you do not loose a tick of nobility, so it lasts "longer".
EG: You have 20 days of nobility left. In that time there are 3 age breaks. Your nobility will not expire till the 23rd day, as the 3 age breaks do not deduct from your time left.


Other:


9) Sizes of Roman flags changed. No longer should there be huge flags and tiny flags on one page. It looked terrible, glad to fix that.

10) Weapon icon changed for weapons that have Melee Strength on top of Ranged Strength. I added blue/green combination icons to show the utility of these weapons.

11) Known Issue: The mess that happens at age end. The fact that some players are able to continu playing after the ending tick. This is for us top priority now. We have some thoughts on what might cause this, but anyway, please be aware that we value this as a critical bug, which will be (hopefully) resolved very soon.

Hah point number 11 is actually quite funny - everyone just goes beserk 2-3 min before the end and then tick ticks and you have surprise "ohh we are still going " :P

Why 5 days? Seems a bit much imho. Will probably have the timer counting down by then.

How about an age with 5 countries, friendly fire only (forcing countries to work together), and juice up the pandemic/fevers to make them spread faster, with special rewards for all countries who help eradicate a pandemic/fever?

Just an idea ;-D

From this point on:

Two spreads are vulnerable. That means, two of them will not respawn when they are defeated. The other two can respawn upon defeat.

In addition: Two spreads are able to kick caps. The other two are not.

I am not telling which can do what. Thats for you commanders to find out ;)

With Christmas around the corner, Santa's attention is divided to other matters. He won't have time, nor energy to control his troops, the way he used to for the last days. Two days of Christmas, means two days of weaker spreads. And they lost the power to take your capitals.


(Out of context: The odds for spreading are lowered, but not gone. Lets say that on avarage a spread is now 2-3 cities less. Since its all based on luck, it COULD that one spread takes 10 cities, but that chance is quite low. The agressive factor is off, however spreading will continue. And I disabled capkicks for all colors.

Also, let me add, yesterday I announced that two spreads are vulnerable and can be defeated, in which they won't respawn. That is still the same. And let me add that those setting didn't change. The two I picked when I announced are the same two which are vulnerable at this very moment.)

A manual age end timer has been set.
We have taken this 'control' for a couple of reasons:

- Clarity in an event age, where with respawning fevers, it can be really confusing what the real timer is

- This age ends on the first of january, so for the full length of december you can enjoy the rewards of the pandemic event.

- The new age starts on the 2nd of january. New year, New Age, and yes New Map! The age after this one I will deliver on my promise. I will give you AFRICA. (ofcourse with the help of everyone who helped along ;D)

- Thats a forth reason why we want agebreak on the 2nd of january, so the devs and myself will be around to adjust the database and get them ready for the new map.

- No need to keep the new map a secret, because Africa has been on the dev server for a while, so you can have sneakpeaks at that server for the new content. Go look at your profile page, and look for the development tab, which will lead you over there ;)
