Whilst the age counter has been crawling towards this milestone, we did our best to make the game shine in its best form for this celebration.
The Comeback of Rome
We welcome you to play on Rome!
Rome has been a map which has been valued with mixed feelings in the past. This because of poor Unit balancing, a confusing map and here and there some several different rules. As you know I have been rebuilding Rome from zero, so all the units have complete new stats, they are not to be compared with the old units anymore since the new authority system was not used before on Rome, which changed it all. Alright, so far for the introduction on how this came along, lets get into the details:
- Celebration of Age 300: For the duration of this Rome-age, every player will receive free nobility for the ammount of time the age lasts! Players who already have nobility, will see theirs extended by the ammount of time the age runs! Everybody can experience the benefits of nobility! Don't forget to participate in the Hero tournaments and may the best Hero win!
- Units have been rebalanced: They are calculated on Atk/hp/auth and balanced in line of the other two maps, but there are certainly differences. Units will remain subject to be updated every age. I will be listening to any suggestion to adjust units when argumented properly. So "Unit X is broken because I fail to train with them" is not a valid argument.
- Map has been updated: It now is in one line with the other two maps, same sea, same teleport routes, just all a bit better in our opinion. If anyone has a good idea how to fancy the Hun-cap Border let us know! Credits for Killerlady who also put a lot of work into the map. Two see more than one!
- Special Country: Hun Capital: For those who haven't played Rome before: Huns are a special kind of people. They hide behind a thick barrier of Wilderness in order to defend themselves. Hun Capital borders are all 2mp-borders. So any city you wanna attack from Huncapital (and other way arround aswell) costs 2mp. This city also gives protection from pvp, as you won't see any soldiers on your border. (however: if you spy Hun capital, you can see if there are players in it..)
- Special Country: Roman Empire: This map has a special place for Roman Empire on itself. As they hold the flagship country for this map, they are often to be the ones hunted. But they receive better/other units to start with. Roman Empire is a continent on itself and therefor you can buy units there which can't be baught anywhere else. For other countries this could be a reason to conquer the Roman Empire, or visit their cities to get those special units!
Re-Introduction of Commander Kills + Safemode-option
After a lenghty discussion within the team and with the players, this desired update is finally here. If your commander dies your account will be reset to Private (=Miles on Rome) and all your progress will be lost. This is a cruel way of dieing, but also makes more sense history-wise. If you die, you die. You either left your commander undefended which is never a good idea, or your country got defeated so badly that dead commanders are the result of a losing war. This has been a choice by the players, and now its implemented by the team.
In addition we give players the option to play the game on safemode. What that means will be explained below:
- Every player can go to their profile and put your account into safemode, by hitting the box on Enable Safe Mode. In this mode the following rules will apply:
1) If your commander dies, It will only lose on rank, instead of being reset to start.
2) You loose all your units and heroes and must start again. You will be given enough gold to rebuild.
3) When playing in safemode, you cannot earn any SF-medals, PVP-medals, Ranking-medals and Hero-medals. The only medal you can win, when playing safemode is the HC-medal.
- You would have to enable safemode yourself, for the existing players the default is hardmode (in which ck's will reset your commander and army). For new players the default will be on safemode, but with an ingame message it will be explained to them how to put their account on hardmode and play for the medals as well.
- Turning safe mode on does NOT reset your account, but does remove you from gaining any medals as explained above.
- Once you enabled safemode, you cannot disable it again. Well, let me rephrase that, because you actually can. But doing so, will reset your commander to private/miles and you would have to start over again. So I repeat: If you enabled safemode, and you want to go back to hardmode, you will reset your commander to do so.
- There is no way to tell if a player is in safemode or not other than killing them and seeing what rank they end as.
- At age end anyone in safemode will be removed from the ranking when medals are awarded. This means that you may be in for a medal and not realise it as the people above you could be in safemode!
New Telegram Function: /map
Because not everybody knows the maps with all the cities on it from heart, Arc created a function so you can swiftly check where a city resides on the map. When you use the command | /map cityname | it will give you small picture of the map, with the city plus its borders. Example: | /map Lviv | will give you a picture with Lviv on it and all its surrounding cities. This function is handy for people always looking for cities, and could be even handy for planners preparing their wheels. Now with Rome being so long out of the rotation, I can imagine this is to everbody's help.
If you just type /map then it will give you your current location.
Other changes/fixes
- When being a defender in a citybattle, the garrison soldiers being injured/killed were reported in your battle results: This bug has been resolved, and your battle results will now only report your own army's business.
- The 'last login/last seen' timer on profile pages was bugged, this has been changed into 'last action taken', in order to give a better indication when a player last played/was active.
- Bug in which you couldn't filter on nation in the ranking tables, has been fixed.
- Bug in which every unit you bought at the same time, were having the same name, is fixed. The names are all individually generated again.
Last word of thanks to all the testers lately, The Dev team has been really active lately, and we can only continue if you all help us testing what we come up with. Thanks for that!
Happy Age 300!
