Military ranks

I was wondering why the levels from Captain to General is Captain* Captain** and Captain***

It should be Major, Lt.Colonel and Colonel instead.

They are in KNC ;) This is older style ranks I think?
2: Germany, Holland
3:Inca,Spanish Colonists, Mexico
4:French States
5:Boers
6:Argentina
7:Inca
8:Indo China
9: Mexico, French States
