If some radical stuff would change, that would take new thoughts and other tactics.
i was thinking about:
- making big ships ALOT cheaper and make them able to conquer empty(no enemy army commanders) without needing an army character
this idea needs to be thought trough because it's very easy to beat all island-nations. Installing more forts, could be a solution though.
- if you hit a harbour by sea(transport+ army), there is 50% chance that the ship changes owner to the navy character of one of the commanders in the strike force
- special ships can ONLY be build in the original ports of a country. if you conquer a harbour, you can build all the special ships there to the normal price
special ships can also be build after the country died in the original ports
- make all ships have variable stats but always make sure it has the same value
i know there are alot of flaws in those idea's and i only presented them roughly, but perhaps they are good basics to get to better changes
for example, a schooner is always worth 1 str, but sometimes has 100 hull more and 1 crew less for example
a max change of 10% on every thing would be nice
- make pirates from the game itself:
if you don't move for a certain # of ticks, there is a xx% chance you get hit by a game pirate(perhaps make the chance on getting hit lower for nobility)
- put certain pirate ships in blockade on the ocean
(will make it necesary for HC's to scout ahead and be more carefull with transports)
